Hi, you’ve reached my cell phone. Leave a message.
Simple enough. Next, I’d expect to hear a beep and then I’d leave my message. But, no! What happens next is a total waste of time.
(the voicemail robot): If you’d like to leave a message, wait for the tone. Then hang up or press 1 for more options. To leave a call back number, press 5.
Are we new to this planet? Are there still people around that don’t know how a phone message works?
- Wait for the beep.
- Talk.
- Hang up.
How much instruction do I really need? What’s with “more options”? Callback number? I could leave a callback number in my message, right?
At the tone, please leave your message.
OMFG. This is the third time I’ve been told to wait for the beep. Why does the voicemail robot even have to say anything at all?
In most cases, my message is actually shorter than the lead-up to leaving a message. Why does the world hate me?
